Anthroposophy

Anthroposophy

Anthroposophy is a philosophy with an important spiritual element. This approach arises out of the search for the goal of human existence and embodies the idea that every individual has a role to play and that we need to find and develop ourselves in society through the use of perceptive imagination, inspiration and intuition, independent of sensory experience and the material world. This movement has its own scientific approach as it relates to knowledge, teaching, economics, politics, medecine, biology, agriculture and (of course) art. Introduced by Rudolf Steiner at the beginning of the 20th Century, Anthroposophy is often criticized because of its association with esoteric cults.  As an approach to design, Anthroposophy is also called the Dornach Style. Its unique aesthetic is characterised by an emphasis on woodwork, geometrical shapes and graphic angles.
